Medical Questions Regarding Perifit Care and Care+
What are the Perifit Care and Perifit Care+ devices indicated for?
The Perifit Care and Care+ are perineometers designed to treat stress, mild-moderate urge and mixed urinary incontinence in women, by strengthening of the pelvic floor muscles through exercise. These devices provides biofeedback via smart phone technology. Perifit Care and Perifit Care+ are intended for vaginal use by adults.
Can Perifit Care or Perifit Care+ help reduce urine leaks?
Yes!
Perifit Care and Perifit Care+ are designed to treat stress, mild-moderate urge, and mixed urinary incontinence by strengthening pelvic floor muscles through targeted exercise. Pelvic floor training effectively addresses these forms of incontinence, with studies showing improvement in approximately 75% of women with stress incontinence and about 2/3 of women with urge or other incontinence through regular exercises.
Since not all cases of incontinence are caused by a weak pelvic floor, getting a diagnosis with a health practitioner to determine the root cause of your incontinence symptoms will help you maximize the chances of using the most effective treatment for you.
Can I use Perifit Care or Perifit Care+ while pregnant?
No!
For ethical reasons, Perifit devices haven't been tested on pregnant women, and therefore the impact of using a connected Kegel trainer during pregnancy is not known.
As a result, we recommend that you do your Kegel exercises without a device throughout your pregnancy, and return to Perifit Care 6 to 8 weeks after childbirth, after getting clearance from your healthcare professional.
Can I use Perifit Care or Perifit Care+ if I've just given birth?
Not right away. After childbirth, it's the perfect time to start regularly practising pelvic floor exercises.
However, we strongly recommend waiting for approval from your healthcare professional before using Perifit postpartum.
This typically occurs during your six-week check-up, which is the average timeframe for perineal healing.
Should I undergo pelvic floor rehabilitation if I've had a caesarean section?
YES. Your pelvic floor has supported up to 5 kilograms during your pregnancy! It needs strengthening.
Regardless of the type of delivery, seek guidance from a healthcare professional for pelvic floor rehabilitation after pregnancy and childbirth.
Can Perifit solutions help relax the pelvic floor muscles?
Balancing your pelvic floor's ability to contract and relax is essential. Perifit Care assists in training your pelvic floor by incorporating both contraction and relaxation phases into each game.
However, if your pelvic floor needs primarily focus on relaxation (such as individuals experiencing pelvic floor hyperactivity or muscle spasms), Perifit may not be the best product for you. We advise consulting with a specialist for guidance on relaxation-focused techniques.
Can Perifit devices help with vaginismus, dyspareunia, or vulvodynia?
No.
While we are aware of pelvic floor disorders such as vaginismus, dyspareunia, or vulvodynia, Perifit Care is not designed to treat these conditions. We recommend contacting a pelvic healthcare practitioner to explore alternative options.
Can I do Kegels after a hysterectomy?
Possibly.
After a hysterectomy, it's essential to ensure that the internal organs are supported, your bladder and bowel function correctly, and that the risk of having a prolapse is minimized.
However, you should first get your surgeon's approval. The timing of your recovery and the appropriate exercise volume will vary from one woman to the next according to the surgical procedure and overall hysterectomy recovery.
Can Perifit solutions help reduce endometriosis symptoms?
NO. Unfortunately, Perifit probes do not have an effect on endometriosis or the associated pain of this condition.
Can I use Perifit Care or Care+ if I have my period?
It's up to you to decide whether you want to use Perifit during your period. There's no reason not to, and many people do.
Is it possible to use Perifit Care or Care+ with an intrauterine device (IUD)?
YES. You can use Perifit Care or Perifit Care+ with an intrauterine device or IUD.
The tip of your Perifit probe is the part that connects to your phone or tablet and remains outside of your body at all times.
The pelvic rehabilitation device is completely covered in medical-grade silicone, with no exposed parts, so there is no risk in using it with an IUD.
Can I use a Perifit device if I have a pacemaker?
Yes.
Perifit communicates with your device using Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE). BLE waves are 1000 times less powerful than those emitted by a regular 4G smartphone. As of today, BLE is even used in pacemakers and other implanted devices.
However, as a precaution, we recommend asking your specialist for confirmation.
Does Perifit have an effect on conception?
Not at all! Perifit Care and Perifit Care+ are biofeedback devices, and it is you who voluntarily contract the muscles of your pelvic floor.
Additionally, the Bluetooth technology used is BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy), which is very common in medical products. BLE technology has been deemed safe for humans and fetuses by scientists and is 4,000 times less powerful than, for example, your smartphone.
Are there any health effects associated with using Bluetooth technology in this device?
Perifit Care leverages non-ionising Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) waves from its tail which remains outside of the body at all times.
BLE allows information from your device to be sent to your smartphone using very little power. This technology is routinely used in the healthcare industry for wireless sensors including heart monitors, glucose monitors, and blood oxygen monitors, and is also used in everyday smart devices like an Apple watch or a smart fitness band.
Bluetooth Low Energy, used in the Perifit, produces emissions on average 3 times lower than standard Bluetooth.
Are there any specific contraindications?
Do not use Perifit if:
- You have abnormal vaginal discharge (bleeding or otherwise), including post-sexual intercourse bleeding, hematuria (blood in urine), or rectal bleeding.
- You are experiencing severe back pain requiring painkillers.
- You have undergone recent surgery.

Using Perifit in these situations may impact an underlying condition. Please consult a medical professional before using Perifit if any of these conditions apply to you.
